It is an exciting time to join our Central London Community Heath NHS Trust team in Brent and we are seeking enthusiastic and skilled colleagues to join us as we build on existing models of care and introduce new ways of working.

Our transformation plans over the next 12 months will include further integration with primary care, planned and unplanned care models, and a greater emphasis on population health. We are expanding the existing workforce by recruiting to the current service portfolio, with the support and leadership of a forward-thinking Senior Management Team.

We are therefore looking for a Specialist MSK/Biomechanics Podiatrists.

In this role you will be at the forefront of delivering new models of care through transformation that meets the needs of our community and will be able to contribute to it’s creation thus positively impacting and enhancing the experiences of our patients in Brent.

You will provide day-to-day specialist clinical care in a supported environment and within a dynamic team, to a diverse group of patients. You will work to embed biomechanics within the service and carry some operational management duties supporting the Clinical Team Lead.

Providing day-to-day professional leadership, you will ensure the needs of patients are placed at the centre of care delivery while providing assurance that standards of clinical care within a designated area is of the highest standard attainable.

You will need to demonstrate effective leadership skills alongside excellent interpersonal skills with a strong ability to teach and inspire colleagues through active demonstration of clinical practice and leadership.

Central London Community Healthcare (CLCH) is one of the largest community healthcare organisations in London and Hertfordshire, providing our services to diverse communities/boroughs in 11 London Boroughs - Barnet, Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Hounslow, Kensington and Chelsea, Merton, Richmond, Wandsworth, Westminster - and Hertfordshire.
• To diagnose and treat complex biomechanics disorders for both podiatric case management and in context of wider MSK care plans.
• To autonomously assess and diagnose patients with a diverse range of medical and podiatric conditions, using appropriate diagnostic techniques, skills and tools.
• To provide guidance and support to podiatry department packages of care; to develop and embed biomechanics into daily practice for all podiatrists.
• To be able to recognise acute MSK and Rheumatologic presentations and to be able to refer patients directly for some diagnostic tests, such as, bloods and x-rays, and to interpret and act accordingly on data provided therein.
• To develop tailored care packages dependent upon patient need and utilise extensive skills, such as the prescription of bespoke functional foot orthoses (FFOs) and stiffness modulated ankle foot orthoses (SMAFOs) to enable and maintain patient mobility.
• To liaise with the extended carers’ network, including MSK services, rehabilitation teams, orthopaedic and rheumatology teams, to ensure that the patient’s continued rehabilitation and re-enablement needs are met
• To refer on urgent or exceptional cases to other healthcare professionals and communicate (in writing) with other health or social care colleagues to ensure the patient receives other services/ care required.
• To work in close collaboration with the specialist teams, including neurology and pain management team, to ensure a holistic approach to the management of compromised locomotive mobility
